Springtime in Ojai

May 18 - NW3 Teams

May 19 - Elite Teams

The birch is blooming, the anise is singing and (c)love is in the air.
Welcome spring by spending the day with two premier NACSW nosework instructors –

Lauralea Oliver, CNWI, Trial Judge, Associate Certifying Official, Wildlife Detection
Barbara Schwerdt, CNWI, Trial Judge, Certifying Official. CPDT-KA, CNWI
NACSW Founding Instructor, Senior Faculty,
Education Planning Committee Member,

This one day workshop will be held at a unique private elementary school in eastern Ojai.    Built in the late 1930’s, the homes were converted into classrooms and have functioned as an educational hub for the locales of Ojai since 1944.    Shaded by oak trees on a quiet residential street in Ojai, the school is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a nosework day with your four-legged best friend.

Interiors and exteriors will be the focus of the day spent in two groups of five teams.

Groups will rotate instructors at mid-day.

~ since the setting is in a residential neighborhood – your dog MUST be able to be crated quietly and comfortably among other dogs.  While handlers may be watching teams search, your dog must remain quiet while you are away.

***Please be aware of a couple important issues:

If you travel for trials - there is a NW3 and Elite trial scheduled for this particular weekend in Salem, Oregon

The room we will be crating in can comfortably accommodate 10 dogs and handlers along with all the paraphernalia

we travel with.   I may be able to accommodate smaller dogs particularly if they share a crate.  Your second/third dog may need to stay crated in the car on their own.  Shade is not necessarily plentiful and the parking lot is accessible to the public.    Please, if you have a second dog that you want to bring to hang out with you, this is not the appropriate venue.  So sorry but space is limited.  Thank-you for understanding.

Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent or excused by the host or instructor.
This cancellation and refund policy applies to participants that must withdraw for any reason including but not limited to injury, illness, emergency, and personal or work-related reasons.
No part of the fee will be refunded if the trial cannot take place or be completed by reason of fire, civil disturbances, an Act  of God, public emergency, or any other cause beyond the control of the trial organizers.

Lodging:    Ojai is a dog-friendly town.  The hotels are somewhat pricey.  Ventura has some good hotels at better rates – it is an 18 mile drive from the facility.    So hiking in Ojai or walking on the beach in Ventura -    add in a great day of nosework and you have a winning combination.

Hope to see you in Ojai!
